decisions decisions...
I'm going to do a computer upgrade within the month... I'm trying to decide what though.
Should I stick with the A64 754 3000 I am buying from Vampy (can pass it onto a mate without losing anything). Should I go for an A64 939 3500. Should I go for a P4 with a good aircooler (like the thermalright sp-94). or should I just go all out and splurge all of my money on a p4ee (and get a thermalright sp-94). If I went P4 I would get an Abit IC7 Max3, if I went A64 I would go NF3 250 (probably MSI) I think I've decided I can't be bothered with watercooling. |

I'd probably go with the 754 A64 to save money. Either way whatever you do go with an A64

If it's not too expensive for you, I'd try to move up to the 939 platform, more upgradability that way.

if it's hard to decide preformance wise (don't know what it'd cost between the two) for the 939 64... hmm.. toughy... (i don't want to touch a 754 as it doesn't have dual channel intergrated memory controllers)

the prices between A64 & P4ee
P4EE 3.2 Ghz runs around $899, 3.4Ghz is somewhere around $995... with that money, I can build a brand new system with or without LCD, crazy.. A64 3400+ is @ $290.50, 3500+ is @ $349... All prices may be a bit lower, I just put out the general cost. Prices jump soo much even if its just 0.1 or 0.2 Ghz differences

I'm in the uk... so the 939 3500 costs £250 - I was able to get the 3.4GHz Northwood for £200 (when it retails for over £300) - so I took it... plus I really enjoy overclocking - so p4 is the thing to go for. And thanks for the links Mig
... I'm getting an A64 3000 anyway... so I could try out both - but I'm sure an overclocked 3.4 will thrash a 3000. That xp120 is HUGE! Are you sure it's cooler than the sp94? the sp94 is copper and the xp120 looks like aluminium. I'll read through the review on system cooling - at least it's alot lighter than the sp94 - the sp94 is almost 500g I think - heavy stuff (I have the sp97 atm - the AXP version of the sp94)

ok... finished reading the preview... it looks like a really good cooler - and they shoved it on an ic7 (which is what I'll be putting it on) which is good.

Even though it's bigger it should be lighter because of the material it's made out of.. I know my slk900 is really heavy- The size itself also probbaly lets it cool better.
