question on games crashing
heres the scoup.. my system ran fine until i upgraded to an x800 pro and added another stick of 512 ram.. when i would do basic functions like interneting or other menial programs my computer ran fine. everytime i would run a game, it would crash after a period of time.. usually 30 min - 1 hour. i figured it was the new vid so i spent a week on and off troubleshooting and googling the problem. nothing worked.. updated everything, installed and then cleaned and reinstalled. as a last shot effort i remembered i had added some ram, so i got memtest and ran it. on test 7 it failed.. took out the old ram stick and it got 45 errors on the new one.. so i tried it in another slot.. passed . put it back in slot 1 .. passed.. put both in.. passed. Im assuming i didnt have it seated properly the first time around. my question is would this cause the puter to seem fine until stressed and then crash? everything seems to run ok now that ive reseated the stick.

Are your timings on the RAM set right? Did you try turning EAX sound off?

It is plausible that if the ram was slightly out them it could cause it, you may even have a dodgy dimm slot and since the ram has been reseated it may have solved that problem |
