OCZ Powerstream 520w
Wow - what a fantastice psu!!!
I though that my year old Antec True Blue was a good psu. I was wrong - very wrong. I decided to upgrade to the OCZ as I have been very impressed with their other products of late and I need something with a little more juice as I plan to upgrade my case soon (I'm running out of 5.25" bays you see) Increasing numbers of hard disks, neon lights and case fans - along with more memory and an even hungrier cpu, meant that the 480watt antec was being pushed to its limits with none or much headroom left for things like overclocking. After reading reviews on the Powerstream series like the one Zardon did (found here I decided to take the plunge and go for the top of the range model. And I wasn't dissapointed. The first thing I noticed was the finish to the psu's chassis and its dark, shiny and very sexy looking. I was quite suprised to feel quite seduced by the reflections in something coloured so deep. Pictures in magazines and on websites don't do its beauty justice. Then I connected it all up. Ahaha! Dedicated SATA connectors, Wonderfull!! 2 Shielded molex connectors for your video card and hard disk, Marvelous!!!!!! Those two cables have capacitors in line to provide cleaner power to the devices they are connected to. I boot the machine and go straight into the bios. 3.3v line at 3.3v, 12v line at 12.1v and the 5v line sitting, not suprisingly at 5.04v. I sat staring at the blue screen of bios land for 5 mins wondering if the machine had crashed because the voltages weren't fluctuating at all. My Antec used to have everything moving up and down about half a volt. This doesn't and it is rock solid. If you value the rest of your components then buy one of these psu's - infact buy one anyway they are fantastic! |

ok where do I start?
I met her on the internet. She doesn't make a sound - my parents cant even hear her whisper. It cost me nothing. Yep thats zero pounds and zero pence (I love having friends whith contacts- and no its not stolen, its perfectly legit) They cost about 110quid over here but I would happily pay it. These really are the kind of kit you dream of - the ones which you think are not as important as your vid card but turn out to be worth much more. I cant wait to start benching at the weekend. I reckon I'll score for at least an extra 100Mhz outa this p4 |
