Meteo is on a distinguished road

Should I upgrade?

My rig currently is a

A7M266 with a 1.33ghz Athlon
512mb pc2100 ram
geforce ti4200

My target computer is a

Asus a8v or Abit av8 (havent decided)
Athlon 64 3500+
1gb pc3200 ram
geforce 6800

Im estimating Im going to spend over a grand for this upgrade. I also read about newer technology coming out such as DDR2 and pci-express. Are those worth waiting for? or should I just dish out the cash for this?

Well, I dont think anything is worth waiting for but some may argue You will see nothing short of a massive boost over your current setup so I think you'd be very satisfied with the upgrade.

I would wait for PCIx personally because it looks like that is the way of graphics cards now. if you go ATI, they'll have bridged models that work for AGP but theres latency issues(in theory, not much testing on the subject yet though) and also they'll be clocked slower than the PCIx models just to make PCIx seem that much better. I would wait for a little bit. PCIx is comming really really soon.
