Pissed So much for the best PSU

Okay, got me a PCPower 510 Deluxe psu after I read in every review that they cannot be beaten and the freaking thing dies in less than 5 hours, not to mention it sounds like a jet engine. Small white flash and nothing after that. How's that for a price tag of $250? I'm very pissed off to say the least

That's not encouraging... though you might be unlucky, I doubt I'd try another one after that.

It happens, I had a WD drive bad out of the box once - didn't stop me from using them now eight years later. Get a warranty replacement...

Yeah, I'm sure these things happen but I'm not sure I want a replacement. I have never heard anything so loud in my life...pretty insane if I must say lol. I mean why only use one fan that sounds like a freakin jet instead of two quiet ones?

lol, I will not deny that lately I've had severly bad luck, that is for sure. But PC Power&Cooling are known to be as-best-as-it-can-get psus which is the reason I went for it even with the insanely high price. But I'm gonna have to hit CompUSA and the best they carry is the Antec True550w so I'll settle for that and get my money back for this one. I'm also going back to air cooling as I'm sick of everything PC lol. Anyone want a Vapo?

Nah man. I'll stick with my air cooling. Vapo is too high maintenance for me So I'm guessing you're getting a replacement or a refund? Can't go wrong with Antec. I'm using them in 2 rigs here and they're just peachy.

Guess it is time to use their 5 year warrenty then . I have one myself and have had it in a PC running 24/7 for the last 6 months. No issues with mine. Remember these are human beings making these things. Sometimes a bad one gets out. Just get it replaced and you will be very happy with it.

lol, want to talk about bad luck?

ok, i buy a vid card from a friend, he said it was a 64mb, when i get it it's an old nvidia vanta LT tnt2 card. 8mb. because i don't want to damage the friendship i calmly forget about it. i order an atlantis 9000 128mb and it crashes randomly on me. also it has rendering issues. this was before i knew anything about graphics cards and i believed that it was a driver issue because that's what my friend told me. i played sof2 and had dumb rendering issues. i sent screenies of it to my friend who sent me the 8mb card (also my clan leader at this time) to see if he knew what was wrong. he decided i was hacking (even tho i brought up the error multiple times to him and SENT him the screenies of it. he and the other leaders scanned my pc for hacks and said it was clean. a week later he bans me from the clan (along w/ 8 other people for different reasons, and in a 20 man clan that's a hit) added me to his banlist (which is bigger than the one punkbuster had at that time) then offered to start sending punkbuster his banlist and got me banned from all punkbuster sof2 servers. then he went and got me kicked out of the CS clan that i was in.

ok, two bad vid cards down, one to go. i get an RMA on that 9000 and get a new one, but am not satisfied w/ it's performance. i get an fx5600xt, big mistake. when it comes it has the same problems as my first card, i rma it and get another one. now i decide to buy a case, i get it and my powersupply is DOA. i ship it back. now my dad and newegg (they allied in this i swear) both screwed up my laptop order and i won't have it in time for my internship in florida.

damn i have bad luck

Sandok will become famous soon enoughSandok will become famous soon enough

dipstick, that is bad luck.... But I got bad luck too! I just bought a 480 Watt PSU (thermaltake purepower etc....) and it didn't go into my Dell box... So I took a saw to cut the metal in the back so I could fit my PSU and i connected it and BOOM.... No more PSU.... So I got the same one AGAIN and I didn't plug it in this time cuz I'm going to get rid of my dell motherboard (OEM sucks) and my dell case) and use it on my next case in about 4-6 monts

sthunder and sandok I feel for ya, nothing worse when things dont work out and you're left with a non working rig But I'm back on air and running off an old Antec 380w until I hear back from FrozenCPU. Meaybe I'll go back to the vapo or maybe not, I will sleep on it. But there is no way I'm getting another PCPower psu; I know they're the best but the noise is just insane. I can't believe no one mentions that in reviews Hopefully they let me exchange it for an enermax 600w or something which will also be cheaper.

they are almost silent yes. around 19-23db, ive one in my PCIe rig and the rails are totally reference across the board, thats with 6 hard drives, a 3.4 EE, an optical drive, 2 gig of ram, an X800XT PCIe.

the rails are all adjustable on the PSU itself, with lights to show how its set up.

I reviewed one a while ago.

Nice, esp. for the price compared to the PCPC unit. Could buy a DVD burner with the money leftover!

Thanks for the info Z, I will definitely look into the OCZ psu.
Btw, Krazy 1 and Necrosis do you not find this PSU extremely loud? I mean even with headphones blasting I could hear this thing eating through my ears. I think the fan they use is just way too freakin loud to live with. Voltage wise it was amazing while it worked tho.

Definatley go for an OCZ - I just got the 520w model and they are wonderfull.

The rails are adjustable although I haven't needed to tinker with them yet as everything stays rock solid - 5v@5v, 3.3@3.3 etc.

And I noticed that mine is a little quieter than my Antex trueblue 480
