KR7A-RAID Problem
I know it's an old board but I've been tying to build a rig for my mother in law. The problem seems to be with the CMOS as far as I can see. When you boot with the cmos cleared it loads defaults and will work ok the problems start when I try to change the bios settings, when I exit bios and save changes it hangs and there is no video.
Even if I enter the bios and exit it without changes it hangs. I am wondering if the CMOS could be defective. Perhaps someone has tried clearing the CMOS without powering off. Does this scenario seem likely? Without sorting this problem I am unable to set the board to boot from CDROM to install XP. Oh and when the board landed it had a defaulted ME installed and showed checksum error on boot. Any ideas before I throw it back at the person who tried selling it to me? (not paid for yet - fortunately). |

Well, we've finally got it installing XP from the CD. Left the clear cmos jumper on for an hour and installed a 1meg pci graphics card I have hanging around. All seems well so far, We'll see what happens when I put the ATI 8500 back in along with the sound card etc.
![]() EDIT:- Well the ATI Radeon 8500 is in and all is well so far. Loaded cat drivers fine and adjusted a couple of settings in the bios and it's still ok. Very Strange indeed. Last edited by El Kapitano; Aug 17, 2004 at 07:16 AM. |
