My Monitor Is Acting Retarded Once More
OK, I don't get it... WHY does my monitor change it's screen position when I turn it off for a long time, or when the screen saver is on for a long time? And WHY does the position change when I open up IE and other windows and stuff? This is making me mad, resizing it all the time.

Every time a Refresh rate is changed... (enless it's switched back).... or every time a new video card is set... sometimes video Drivers changed.... color depth.... it will effect the position of the screen on the monitor... not windows.....

It's an old ViewSonic G773 17", with crappy resolutions at 1024 = 85hz, 1280 = 60hz, you get the picture. I think it's time for new monitor anyway, but no moolah

My IBM P96 at work does this at bootup nearly every morning now. It looks to be a refresh rate change occuring during the change from text screen displayed during bootup to the Windows GUI that the monitor fails to trigger on. The screen shifts to the left for anywhere from 10 to 60 seconds after the Windows desktop appears then (all of a sudden) shifts back to the right and is perfectly centered.
I have the proper .inf file for my monitor installed and recognized by Windows just fine - for me it just seems to be a glitch with the monitor. Check to see that your monitor is recognized by name in the display properties - settings - advanced - monitor tab. Hope this helps a bit...
