DVD-Drives and LG GSA-4081B WON'T read some cd's?
I recently sold a computer with a LG GSA-4081B drive (Super Multi Drive Rev 2).... now some people know that i personally have never had luck with LG drives at all... nothing but issues... and i just had another
I installed this drive.. then went to install windows XP Pro SP2 ..... problem instantly.... the drive would spin the cd up but acording to the computer.. there was no cd/dvd in the drive at all... after a few restarts with no setting changes.... i hit the eject.... and then hit it again.... and continued to boot.... finally it read it and i was off (i was kind freaking out as when your 100 miles away from your home with all other backup cd's and you didn't test the install cd before leaving .. (just slipstreamed it).... i was rather worried)..... so i install windows.. from there i myself had no issues... less then a week later i just received a phone call..... they can't install majority of the programs/games.... they pop the cd in and... nothing....restarted ... ejected... you name it.. over the past few days they haven't had ANY luck.... all they were able to install was some Hoyle "card/board" games..... but nothing else... Frankly, this drives me up the wall.. i got the burner because i wanted to provide the most support across all platforms... ALL DVD media is supported... yes, everything. AND it can burn it all as well.... DVD+/- R/RW DVD-RAM .... Now heres another kicker..... currently with my sony (yet another manufacturer i haven't been pleased with)... .refused to allow me to install for example.... UT2k3 or Halo or various other games and programs... simply refuses to either see a disc.... OR while in setup.... as soon as it starts the installation process by copying files over... it gets read errors.. and suggest that i clean the cd or the drive.. blah blah balh.... fails... in the end i just shoved it in my BenQ DVD Drive and no issues.... Anyone have these issues.. anyone know of a fix? anyone getting outright pissed off with LG and Sony yet?

have you tryed the firmware update?
