How to Update your BIOS ?

How to Upgrade your American Megatrend Inc.'s AMI-BIOS with the AMINFL***.EXE file: (with NO LIABILITY towards the contents of the following description)

Step 1. The AMIflash Program you can get it from the Driver CD-ROM, the directory should be: D:\UTILITY\Aminf325.exe (we advise you to use your CD-ROM version)

Step 2. Make a 1,44MB (3,5") bootable Floppy Disk. For windows 98, when boot up press shift key and F5 at the same time, and go to safe mode DOS screen and flash the bios in the floppy disk.

Step 3. Download the latest BIOS Version from our BIOS site and [if 'zipped'] start winzip to unpack the file (if it's not already supplied as a .ROM -file).

Step 4. Make an autoexec.bat file on the Floppy that says (read exactly) A:\Aminf325.exe 010914s.ROM (program-file) (the bios file name)

Step 5. Copy both files (Aminf325.exe and 010914s.ROM ) to the Floppy Disk.

***When restarting the PC, it will automatically load the program and start to flash the right bios-file .

NEVER INTERRUPT THE BIOS FLASH-PROCEDURE. Wait until completely finished, then reboot/restart your PC System. Congratulations, You now have successfully 'flash'-ed your Mainboard to function with the latest bios-version from the factory.
---i wud say. do it ONLY if you at least know (dont have to be for sure but not just think) it'll FIX something! so i wud suggest you to check the update lists 1st. also dont forget to backup your old bios 1st there shud be an option on that utility.--- good luck.

Another way to flash an AMI Bios is change the bios file extention into a .rom file, and do a BOOTBLOCK.

Steps
1> d/l the the ami bios flash for your M/B
2> extract the the the files from the zip, to your floppy
3> delete the flash utility
4> rename the the bios file to AMIBOOT.ROM
5> shut down comp, and place floopy into the drive
6> hold down the the control and home keys ( together ), and turn on comp
7> you will hear one beep, release the keys ( together )
8> wait till you hear 4 beeps, ( the flash has taken )
9> remove the the floppy, and power down , or hit reset
10> hit delete hit during the post to enter bios setup & set your bios to your prefered settings
