Sad Logitech MX900 Bluetooth Mouse

Is anyone out there using this mouse OK with XPSP2?

I've had problems installing the software and Bluetooth drivers under SP2 (seems logitech wont let it's Bluetooth drivers install if it detects another Bluetooth stack - in this case microsoft's) so I had to uninstall SP2 and install the software and drivers for the MX900 then reinstall SP2 which seemed fine until..

I realise the back and forward buttons no longer work, they work OK if configured as something else - say minimise but don't seem to hook into XP for back and forward..DOH.

Uninstall drivers and try to reinstall, the hardware is no longer recognised by the installation software...DOH.

Clean out logitech references from the registry, reboot and...hurray, it's recognised again, try reinstalling the software and drivers and.....BUGGER IT!! The damn thing wont install the Bluetoth driver because XPSP2 (SFC?) has put it's MS Bluetooth stack back..

Tried uninstalling the MS bluetooth stack both registry hack and bt****.sys file removal...still no go.

me gives up and then reinstalls MX700 mouse, windows says hello mousy and all is well with the world...Me orders TDK Pro bluetooth dongle from Scan insted...I'll see if that works any better. (read easier).

Anyone else suffering a similar Bluetooth torment?

Didnt you post a thread about this before and I replied with links? I take it the links to the microsoft support site help pages didnt work?

If it wasnt you, then im getting old but Ill be damned if I can find the thread with a similar problem.

I currently use a MS bluetooth keyboard and it was pretty messy to setup but I installed intellitype a newer version for a wireless optical keyboard as a last resort and it worked fine......

Nice one Zardon, hehe, yes I posted this under the SP2 thread in the windows OS forum..

I've been waiting for you to turn up again LOL fancy getting lost in your own domain so to speak.

No the links are for the reg hack for BT driver removal. I've been through the whole MS Bt and Logitech Bt thing and all I can get it down to is Logitechs insistance on not installing their own Bt driver stack "in case it conflicts.." - bloody do gooders! Why wont they let me have the option of lousing up my rig?

Too many threads for this old fart to keep up with now

Lets go over this again, everything worked fine with SP1 and bluetooth/logitech right? its only since SP2 has appeared this has occured.

Well we know MS have put in "improved" bluetooth support now so inevitably it was going to screw something up, of course it would happen to be a competitors products The reason I gave you the links to the bluetooth removal setup was hoping that logitech would let you install their own system therefore easing the problems with conflictions, apparently not ! I really dont know what to offer up now as im very unfamilar with logitech bluetooth products but surely if you are experiencing this issue and have performed clean install of the OS etc it must be a new problem logitech will rectify in a update/patch? have you emailed them to give them details of your problem? I know a friend had an issue with a logitech driver before and they replied to him with support next day so id give that a shot first.

I had terrible problems with microsofts bluetooth and keyboard with SP1 as one of their "patches" occasionally would make the keyboard and mouse totally die ! they gave a massive registry fix for that and updated another patch for the OS to fix that (which didnt always work id like to add). When I fired up SP2 and the keyboard died (I dont use the mouse now, I use a logitech MX510) I was swearing quite loudly and had to fumble around with my trusty natural pro until I fluked on a quick fix for that (apparently its ok with a rolled in SP2 which ive created since then so ill give that a shot when my OS reinstall comes again this month).

Im sorry im not much help but i advise you contact logitech with your problems and a copy of the DXdiag log file to aid them in their research but im sure they are aware of it already unless its an isolated issue with your specific hardware setup.

Hopefully there are some logitech bluetooth experts here who might have an answer, in the meantime ill battle on with microsofts crummy bluetooth code and my wonderful but flaky bluetooth keyboard

Yep, that's kinda where I'm up to now. I've packed the whole thing back up and if there's no resolution by Friday and the TDK dongle works well (it's a class 1 device too so I might actually manage to get into another room with my T3 - whoohoo) it's going straight back to the shop.

Thanks for your replies and if anyone has got any more suggestions please - keep them coming.

Thats very strange, i have the MX900 and have never once had problems with it, at all! I installed SP2 and everything works just as perfect as it had with SP1. All buttons work the same and windows has no problems detecting it. I do have the latest drivers from logitech. Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Are you using the bluetooth with other devices though? I wanted the bluetooth hub as an access point for my phone, pda etc. That was the problem in the main. Also I tried manually installing the Widcomm stack using it's own installer both before installing the Logitech drivers and after installing the logitec drivers and all I really ended up with was a USB HID mouse with no Bt functionality, maybe I was doing something wrong, but at the end of day I shouldn't have to piss around trying to install hardware for three days (especially a flippin' mouse!) so it had to go.

Endnote my TDK bluetooth adaptor is the dogs, set up was very easy, it has a great range and is very portable and thus gets used by all in the office as well for backing up their mobile phones etc.

I am however very happy with my Logitech MX1000 mouse and believe a driver update for the MX900 would eliminate this sort of problem.

Hi guys,

Joined forum yesturday trying to find answer to mx900 driver problem with SP2. I got a reply from logitech giving me a reg fix that would make it install drivers - however i got round it another way.

1) Extract setup files to a folder and run widcomm install manually.
2) Bluetooth software installs but doesnt find anything
3) Rerun setpoint 1.05 and no complaints this time
4) Reboot - wait for setup to finish its stuff and everything works (for me )

Sad MX900 and SP1

Never mind SP2 I am having huge problems installing the Widcomm software for the MX900 under XP SP1. I have tried it every which way but the same thing always happens. Windows detects the hub and installs the driver. At this point everything seems to work fine and I can even use the Mobile Phone suite to set up my T610.

The problem occurs after a reboot. The Bluetooth symbol stays red and no devices are detected. Despite multiple uninstalls and reinstalls the behaviour stays the same. What on earth is going on?

Any help would be much appreciated.
