Community VS ECS,PCChips,Syntax (CPU Fraud)
dear DH members.
please read this article: http://www.newgenerationorder.org/fraud.html lately i have seen many of these products out there and since basic home users have no clue about genuine AMD Athlon CPU thousands and thousands keep buying this fake/tricky product (Duron cpu under AMD 3100A Pro without real specs label) and they have no clue regarding this issue. me and few friends of mine decided to open thread in AMD's forums and asking them to do something against it. since we have no permission to use AMD name or to represent AMD against these rippers. i already know most of the DH forums members are very very nice and like to help others and so am i.. and there is many basic home users who keep buying this trash and its making me feel very sad. my conclusion is: we must help and push AMD to do something! remember! not everyone is skilled and can identify geniune product (ex:little childs) and since no one did something against it its will be really nice if you will support our thread and try to convince/support AMD to do something about this matter. or atleast make them warn the big sellers against it! remember: thousands and thousands keep being tricked by these scumbags and we can make a difference and protect them by making small "noise" around.. consider it as charity event. its not for me! its for the poor million basic home users around the globe! heres the thread: http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=23711 thank you very much! and i really hope you will support our crew and all these bastards will be locked in a cell! |

I almost got ripped off too.
I'm a computer expert, I'm a system's analyst, I've been an IT manager for one of America's largest Online service providers, and I almost got ripped off by this scam too.
I went to Pricewatch.com and looked for an Athlon XP 3200+ CPU/Motherboard combo and found what I thought was a good deal. I found an ECS L7VMM3 for about $143. Seemed like a good deal. Here is the exact add on PriceWatch: ECS Elitegroup - L7VMM3-3200PROXP-FSB333 Athlon XP 3200 with cpu fan - ECS Elitegroup - ECS L7VMM3; AGP/PCI/CNR; Integrated 64Mb Video; 3D Audio; 10/100 LAN; Retail Box; with cpu - Integrated AMD Athlon XP 3200A+ 1.80GHz CPU & ECS Cooling Fan with Heatsink. CUSTOMIZABLE Notice it SAYS it's an XP 3200 and it's listed under the XP 3200 catagory! I was buying it for a friend so I didn't really look too hard at it. When I got the email receipt I noticed it said, "Athlon XP pro 3200A+" and I wondered what exactly that meant. So I looked it up and saw that it was a scam, that it is really a mobile XP 2200+. It took me over an hour with the vendor to get them to agree to give me my money back, I think I basically annoyed them into giving me my money back without charging me a restocking fee. I haven't gotten my money back YET, I have to refuse shippment and wait for the guy to credit back my money. I'm thinking about disputing the charge instead since it is fraud. People need to be informed of this rip off. I have noticed that you can't get to this motherboard directly on the ECS site, or at least I didn't see it under their products, but the product page is still there if you have the direct link for it. This is consumer fraud and needs to be addressed by the government. I am doing what I can to start this process going. I am thinking about starting a class action suit, I have an appointment with an attorney today. |
