PSU issues
the fan in my new omni 450w is making noise
i've had 3 psus in my case and they have all done the same thing could i have tightened the screws that hold the psu in the case to much cause my other 2 psus run fine now, after some cleaning with compressed air cans |

noise, what kind of noise. PSUs make lots of different noises, so its hard to tell what your problem could be?

try it with the psu outside the case, if the noise stops its more than likely noise being created by the dynamics of the case. especially seeing as you have tried 3 psus (unless they are all the same low brand make and they could be using cheap fans).

Yes, the dynamics of the case can greatly effect "noise" pollution... unnessary....
pulll it out and run it on a stable solid serface using a antistatic foam (usually what motherboards sit on in the boxes for retail)..... this will prevent vibrations resinating throughout the desk or what you have it sitting on.... give you good result of IF it's the PSU or not.... Could you provide a little more info on the type of PSU's you have previously and what you have currently, brand, model.... output, number of internal fans

the fan is rubbing,... i think im tightening it up too much, cause it works fine outside the case
and the previous 2 work fine now in another case.... so could i be screwing the psu in to tightly its sort of like the ball bearings are worn, but they aren't cause the sound goes away after a few seconds and works fine outside the case |

you sure it's your PSU if it doesn't do it at all outside the case? it could be a combination of the fans starting up making the resinating sound more intense....

no its def the psu, coz the sound went away when i first put the new on in,
then it started again, it never happens when the psu is outside the case... so im gunna loosen the screws a bit it only happens on a cold start like when i haven't used it 3-4 hours |

considering the parts have life expectancy, id rather conserve as much as possible,
fans only have so many rpms they can do, same as hdd's before they fail... |

Conserving life of parts is a balance between run hours and stop-start cycles ... with a factor thrown in for power consumption.
I'd guess the balance favours turning a system off overnight, if it's not working on anything, or else allowing it to go into the deepest possible sleep state if you can't stand bootup time. The other balance I'd go for: If you DO shut down and power off when not in use, then DON'T have anything power down by itself at all, no powersave! If you leave it on, and use powersave, have the settings long enough so that things do not turn off shortly before they are needed again, or short enough so it gets a decent rest before it is needed again. |

um... right
also... i like a clean bootup.... when running for a long time it tends to drop performance cause of running processes stagnating |

hmm often fans will make noise after a cold boot, or the computer has been tipped on its side because of the dust settled in the system, its not really anything to worry about
