Default Post Philips Acoustic Edge... I am in love!

This is the only other sound card that has inspired me since the Aureal SQ2500... Yes, I still miss Aureal ... But, with a sound card as kickin' as the Acoustic Edge... I can't complain! I only paid $50 for it ... the same amount that I spent on the Rythmic Edge that this is replacing!

If you have any fond memories of older sound cards, or making new memories on current sound cards... Please post here.

I am looking for any tweaks that might increase performance... Any suggestions?

Also, I am looking to replace my Altec Lansing ADA890 speakers (they are 4.1) with a new set of 5.1 speakers ... any suggestions on that?

Let me know!

Thanks for the suggestions... MidiLand S4 8200 5.1 Speakers look great, but I am on a bit more of a budget than that... Other than the Creativ Inspire 5700 speakers ... what else would you suggest? I want quality sound, I don't need a really loud sub, I live in an apartment complex... So, I am not left with many choices.

A word of advice: DO NOT even LOOK or THINK about the inspire 5300. Its a very big POS!

If the 8200 is appealing to you, but too expensive, just buy its younger brother... the 7100. It comes with Dolby Digital decoder, but doesn't support DTS. It is 100 watts... still good.

for 180 bucks @:

PS: It even has a nice sub

Default Post Phillips Rocks!

I am currently running a Phillips Seismic Edge card and all I can say is God bless 'em. Gotta love that Thunderbird Avenger! I will never again buy a Creative product.

I'm no audiophile, but onboard SUCKS!

That is all.

I agree, the thunderbird avenger chip is outstanding! I love the 5.1 in movies!

BTW, I bought a set of AVS500 speakers to tide me over until my tax returns come in.
Then I am going to go all out! There is a local shop that builds custom speaker systems .. I think I am going to just have a set of custom speakers made.

What's wrong with my speakers? lol

Don't worry, I needed ok sound for a cheap price (150 CDN, like 100 American)

I'm thinking of the Promedia's, but those will have to wait for cash, lol.
