Cd-Burning Not Burning

Ok I usually use roxio easy cd that came with the comp but for some reason it wont read that disc. Its not scratched or anything. When i put it in windows gives you the little what do you want to do with this but it labels it as a blank cd. So i installed nero burning rom 5 and it went in smoothly. But now when i burn cd's nothing get put onto them. It goes through the whole process of burning and it shows that its burning the files but when i take the cd out theres no ring on the back and the computer cant detect any files on the cd. wtf is wrong?

Also, dont now if this has anything to do with it but when the cd comes out it smells like its burning but its not even warm

uninstall both burning softwares and reboot the PC, then reinstall the Nero and see if this helps..

Only the nero is installed, the roxio disc cant be read by my comp all of a sudden. I tried that with juts nero and nothing

Try disabling the Imapi CD Burning COM service (or however it's named exactly) from the services panel.

Go to start, control panel, administrative tools, then services.

Find the service and right click on it, then go to properties. If the service is started then stop it; and then set the startup type to disabled.

what kind of burner do you have? are you sure that nero is selected to use your burner and not the image writer?

toshiba i believe dont know the model, it has been making images but i have no idea what that meant or means. How do i stop it from doing that?

ummm, had the same problem with nero 6 ultra edition. Turns out my tab was on hd-burn in advanced mode.

in nero there should be a little drop down box where you select the device to record. it defaults to "Nero Image Writer" i believe, so you have to select your drive from that menu.

That's right; and if it doesn't show your drive there upgrade to the lastest version of Nero and try again.

in My Computer, does the XP recognizes the drive as a CD burner?
