Could be building my first p4....
I kinda want to play with a P4 since i've never owned one.
Blasphemy! I know j/K Could be building my first p4.... I’ve always used AMD at home and I’m looking at how cheap the Celerons are an how cheaply I can get a board and it’s begining to look attractive Shes going to be useing it mostly for simple stuff a little gameing nothing intense. word processeing, photoshop, she prefurs low end games, old and defunked ones "mostly" lol but she does play a few things I do just for fun like ut2004I just bought two sticks of 256mb PC 2700 (for ubber cheap) I can get a 2.4 ghz for about $65 and a cheap mobo http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/rg/ for $28 but it has no AGP since it has the intel extreme built in I would rather of had an AGP board (i may still order one of those to fix up a gateway that i'm repairing for my bothers ex-wife, becouse it matches up with the case) i'd be looking at about $40 for cheap p4 board with AGP so I have a choice of graphics http://www.tigersurplus.com/details....ductid=OA-2710 Actual this looks good http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...T=Motherboards plus it's based on the 865 chipset so it's newer and upgradeable (I may also use the pc to host a little private FTP or as a sever etc from time to time)or am I better of just sticking with AMD? ![]() and get a cheap amd board with 2500+ or something? I'd like to work in a little upgrade for myself I defonately need pc 3200mabe another CPU, a diffrent HDD, of couse if I do that I can use my old for her or sell it and but something for her non the less i have alot of decideing to do

get the p4p800 (cheap now that asus has much newer models out) and that p4 2.4 533. you can easily OC it to an 800fsb to increase performance.
the main difference between amd's and p4s are the bandwith. p4s LOVE bandwith hehe |

well, if you get a celeron, it won't work in an 865/875 MoBo. If you get a Celeron D, it won't work in any board other than 865/875 MoBos. If you're going to get the p4 2.4Ghz, I wouldn't get that MoBo you're looking at from newegg at all. I'd rather get an 865 board that supports dual channel DDR, and that 865 board you're looking doesn't seem like it supports dual channel DDR, although it's supposed to.

Either of those choices are pretty nice Neon I think the PT880 is pretty popular and performs pretty well for the money. I've also got to figure out my upgrade path.....grrrrrr...
