Need help with USB power
Hey
i got this problem, i've build my own USB device and am trying to draw power from my USB port, the device runs perfectly well on a m8s USB port but not on mine. when i plug it in i get a msg that a usb unit is exeding the hubrooters power limit. my usb ports on my laptop wich i use deliver 500mA and the device runs perfectly well at that when tested otherplaces. the problem is i think that the device can actually handle 8.6V and 2A but runs at lower with no prop. i wondered if anyone here knew how to mod your usb device or make a driver so the port will run even if the device tries to take to much power. hope i made myself clear else ask. plz help me regards Svenn |

In case you don't have to use that special device while running off the battery, you could try an USB hub with separate power. Those don't have to be too expensive these days. Just an idea.

that is an idea, but my main prop is that it was intended that the device should be portable, therefore a usb hub is not answer i'm looking for.
just need to find a way to remove the limit on my usb device |
