cant play WMV movies

i have installed every codec pack, and used alot of playes but for the life of me i cant play a single WMV file period.... i used to be able too, but now i cant, it says unknown extension, file, failed to render etc... depending on player..... got any ideas, this is pissing me off

Installing the lastest Windows Media Player from Microsoft should help, even if you actually play the videos in another player like Media Player Classic.

Codec packs can really screw up a system though, so you might want to try uninstalling them first. If they even have an uninstall feature.

Go to windows explorer, right click on that file and choose properties, read what it says, they should thell you what kind of codec it used. Try to play it on Winamp 5 too. I suppose you use WMP 9.

after is installed winamp5 still no dice!!

if you using an ATI card.... disable WMV Acceleration in the ATI control panel....

Well I don't have that MS Mpeg4 video codec and MS Windows Media 9 VCM, have you installed WMP 9?? The player, not the codec. So after uninstalling all WMV codec, try to install WMP 9.

shit i tried to uninstall wmp10 and it wont let me, lol.... danm!!!
