??? Bad refresh rate?

Ok, a while back i has posted about some problems with my monitor. basically the sides of the screen were shaking back and forth quickly. i had gotten a lot of suggestions and non had worked. so today i decided to use MultiRes to play with the refresh rates a little. i changed the rate to all the available rates and noticed that when my monitor/vid card was at 75 mhz, it caused the shaking of the screen, BUT the other rates were fine. Anybody know why only the 75 mhz is giving problems? It was fine when i bought the monitor 3 yrs ago...
I currently have the res. 1152x864 @ 70mhz.

Is your monitor detected in Windows correctly or does it just have some generic driver installed?

Did it ever work correctly @ 75 MHz? The monitor might be developing a physical problem.

Yes my monitor is detected in windows correctly. yes it did work correctly @ 75 mhz for over 2 yrs now. i only noticed this problem earlier this year. I don't want my monitor to go... It's a KDS AV-195TF.

I can't think of anything else that could be causing this issue, especially if you've already tried to fix it and it did work for over 2 years before the problem started. Hmm... how about this. You have a 9800 Pro? Is the monitor plugged into the VGA port? Have you tried plugging it into the DVI port via a DVI->VGA dongle and see if the issue persists?

Yes i have a 9800 pro and yes the monitor is plugged into the VGA port. I have tried plugging it into the DVI port, but it didn't work. i wasn't getting a signal. i am guessing that i need to enable the DVI port somehow, but i am not quite sure how to do that.

You plugged it into the DVI port and got no signal? That's strange... were you using the dongle the card came with?

I wonder if it is the KDS monitor, but then you would have to connect other units to determine that. I had a problem with a 19 inch KDS monitor, and it was brand new, took it to my pappa, he is an electrical engineer and a tech. He spent ten minutes with it and determined that the platform the duaghter board sat on was loose and he just used a little more of the clear gunk on the problem and it went away.

I tried a few mins ago and all i got was the monitor self test. do i have to enable the dvi port through my drivers?

Not a dongle card, "were you using the dongle the card came with" ...

In any event yes the dongle pictured below is what I was referring to. The DVI port shouldn't require any activation, it should just work from the get go. If you're getting no signal then I don't know what could be causing it. Unless the 9800 Pro has something specific you need then it should just work through the DVI port. In any event if that's not an option is there another computer you can test the monitor with?

I think that the monitor might be the issue but you can find out by hooking it up to another computer; or somehow making it work through the DVI port to see if the issue also occurs w/that type of connection as well.

With my video card actually I have a similar issue through the VGA port where it's very distored (lines, waviness) at some refresh rates but hooking up the monitor through the DVI port worked as a work-around. It wasn't a situation like yours where it worked for 2 years and then it stopped working however.

well i think the monitor is dying bud if you ran 75 mhz all that time it my be it is the 1st to go about like your low beams go out before you high beams because you use them all the time.

System Specs

in the display panel, under settings - you may need to select the secondary display device and check the "extend my desktop onto this window" to activate the monitor

Strange... my DVI port just works automatically by plugging my monitor to it using the dongle the video card came with. I don't understand why it would need a 'check' somewhere unless the 9800 Pros are different somehow...
