Built a PC for a friend
Well, techincally I didn't build it. He did, I was showing him how too.
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe with NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra ($100) Antec 350w Power Supply ($60) PersonalComputeR Case comes with 3 fans ($45) AMD Athlon XP BARTON 2600+ ($99) 512MB DDR PC3200 ($89) Western Digital 80GB ($65) BFG nVidia Geforce FX 5500 OC 256MB ($149) Artec 52x/24x/52/16x CDRW/DVD Combo ($40) ViewSonic Keyboard ($15) Gravis PilotMouse Optical Pro ($20) Arctic Silver ($8) Not bad huh? This PC should do him good, I wanted a video card that would last, he's not a gamer. But, he he decides too, this card should be able to handle it. The PersonalComputeR case is a no name case, but it does look good. Not as good as my aspire x-gamer, but it does have a window, and the front bottom looks like a car. Headlights and a grill. The Gravis PilotMouse Optical Pro looked like a cool mouse, rubber siding for your fingers and 5 customizable buttons. For only $20 I figured I would get one for myself since my MS Optical Mouse was acting up. I love this mouse, fits nicely in your hand, 5 year warranty, and it even comes with a retail version of Splinter Cell.

nice one, an athlonxp still is a very good choice and saves a lot of money.
since winxp came out there isn't any real reason to need a64 power besides gaming, a now 2 year old pc will still run almost everything you trow at it as will this system. it kinda reminds me of my "old" pc but i'm just spoiled

Very good choices, especially on the mobo and CPU.
![]() I love my A7N8X-E system; but why doesn't he get a 9800 Pro instead of the Geforce 5500? Sure it's $50 more, but the performance is .
