Need Immediate Answer To Question???

I'm using an Ultra X-connect PSU for my new A64 computer and have run into a problem with the the 20-pin ATX motherboard connector. I'm using a XP-120 heatsink for cooling purposes on my processor. The 20-pin connector on the 9NDA3+ is close enough to the processor that I'm unable to connect from the power supply to the motherboard because of the XP-120. My question is can I use the 4-pin P4 motherboard power cable that comes with the X-connect instead of the 20-pin ATX connector and do so safely without damaging anthing?

I would appreciate an answer from somebody ASAP, because quite frankly I'm getting a little disgusted with this computer and building it. Impatience to be up and running I think.

no

the voltages/rails are different

you have to use the 20pin, and not the p4

Some Motherboards are not built with a P4 connector, one of the OCZ dude mentioned this in a thread not to long ago... i'll be right back ASAP with a link

Nearly all current Athlon motherboards are using it also.

I guess i was wrong about some motherboards not having the P4 connection (well i was generalizing all boards so i was kinda wrong )

it appears that ALL AMD 64 based motherboards have a P4 connector and SHOULD be used (i'm not sure if it's a MUST or HAVE TO)

but i know for a fact that you CANNOT run a machine without the 20 pin connector hooked up.....and i don't think anything will happen though

Well, thanks for the replys, people. I ended up taking the Ultra X-Connect PSU back to the TigerDirect outlet store where I bought it last week and exchanged for another PSU that was somewhat more adaptable. At least I have my new system up and running now. But I'm having a weird problem now. I have two USB peripherials, a printer and a scanner. Ever since I plugged them in tonight, I been having problems with my mouse pointer. For no apparent reason the mouse pointer will just freeze and I can't move it, none of the buttons on the mouse will work correctly. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the USB and the mouse or did I forget to do something, I'm not sure which. Any one ever had a similiar problem like this?

ok...i guess iw as wrong about not having to sue the p4...lol..but i WAS right about having to have the 20pin(or if your on a server board such as mself...24pin)

as per your current USB issue...try reinstallign the USB drivers and making sure there sint an IRQ conflict. Also, if your mosue is wireless...it may very well be a RF issue and nto a USB issue as RF can be quite picky about distance(it prefers 3-6 feet for a mosue i believe) and obstuctions, etc

I appreciate your advice, proDigal jenius. Now here is where i show my lack of computer knowledge. How does one go about reinstalling USB drivers and checking for IRQ conflicts?
