Replaced my PROC with 3.2E

Yesterday I pulled out my Intel 2.6C proc and stock fan and replaced them with a Intel 3.2E Ghz and a Zalman C7000A heatsink with Artic Silver 5. Everything seems fine except for one odd thing that has me worried. Whenever I try to run WCPUID v3 the system goes black screen and reboots itself.

Other then that I think all went well, since games are running fine (60fps constent in Doom3 at very high) Aquamark3 scored 63,391, 3dmark01; 21,959, 3dmark03; 11,075, 3dmark05; 4912.

I used the Artic Silver 5 stuff and spread it evenly across the proc. All the way to the edges and tried to scrape off any extra before putting the HUGE Zalman heatsink on. After I bolted the heatsink in place I was still able to wiggle the heatsink slightly and I assumed it was because it was still 'soft' and over time the goop would solidify and not allow that little play. I tightened the screws down as tight as they would go so I know its not that. Maybe I used TOO much paste?..

Any ideas?

Odd.. I ran Aida32 with no problems. I even tried the newest version of WCPUID and it still does it. Guess I'll stick with Aida32 and not use WCPUID anymore.

yes, you used too much arctic silver on the processor. On their website it says that for P4s, you only need to use a blob the size of half a rice grain. I know it sounds like a very small amount...but the "processor" that you see is actually just a metal cover that helps spread heat. the actual processor is in the very middle of that cover, and it's smaller than you might imagine.

or its another P4E bug as there seem to be more, i doubt he used too paste much else he would have had crashes and lockups when playing the games. The P4E uses other code then the P4c so that's probably it, either a bios update or a an update to wcpuid should fix it.
in the meantime just use another tool like aida (as you mentioned) or cpu-z , everest and so.
