Semptron 2800+

I have an Athlon XP 2600+ with Barton Core is real necessary to upgrade to Semptron 2800+ because this use an old Core? and lower Performance? Thank you.

barton 2600+ is faster then a semptron 2800+, semptron is the value line it's ment to compete with intel celleron, it's equil in performance to a 2.8 ghz celleron.... the barton 2600+ is the equil in performance to a 2.6 ghz full p4. both of wich that are faster the the 2.8 celleron

System Specs

Sempron (Socket A, all except the 3100+) are Tbred-B cores - 256k secondary cache.

The + ratings are now scaled against the Celeron-D, so the actual clock speed and performance is LOWER than for previous Athlon XP processors of the same supposed rating.

All models are 333FSB (166), but this doesn't make up for the lower real clock speeds - another excercise in pulling the wool over our eyes - mind you, if these stock 166 clocked chips would take 200 without complaining, they'd be good value.
