I will probably be able to buy one locally some 24h from now, so my final wondering is how good has this new type of driver for the MX-1000 series called SetPoint become? Can you make the thumb buttons work in games and so on? I was reading some negative reports about those aspects not too long ago.
My thought is to maybe wait a bit longer or put an online order if there are some larger software issues, rather than rushing off to get one tomorrow at a premium cost and limited choice in colors. |

You may want to check out this web page: http://www.logigamer.com/
They just released a beta version that has MX1000 support. I have a MX700, and this utility works great for me.

Yes the LogiGamer utility seems to have a lot of extra configurability with its profiles. I am happy to report though that the regular Logitech settings do seem to work fine with games. I've tested a bit with UT2004 and FarCry, both with 100% success. All buttons seem usable as far as key configurations is concerned. I have to share some overall thoughts on the mouse keys as well.
With my medium+ size hands (not too long fingers but wide palm) I find most of the extra buttons quite accessible, with only the forward thumb button feeling impossible for quick acces. 'Clicking' the mouse wheel isn't much of an option either as the downward tactile is very stiff and the roll of the wheel so easy, but never having liked mouse wheels much in general either I feel it's as expected. The really positive surprise when it comes to accessible extra buttons are the ones in front and behind the scroll wheel, and the rear thumb button. While naturally not quite good enough to use as jump-buttons, secondary fire might actually work. I've currently tied both wheel-front and thumb-rear to the 'middle button' function and it seems fully usable even in UT2004. In a slower paced game like Far Cry it's good to have a couple of usable buttons where things like flashlight and zoom can be put. So with the superb precision, smooth wireless and good battery accounted for in beforehand, the usefulness of the extra buttons came as a good bonus. Already just a couple of hours into trying the mouse out I'm happy with my purchase. And my hand already aches from using all those new buttons. No pain, no gain. |

First wireless mouse I have ever liked for gaming. Always had both type once wireless available, but for gaming always used a wired mouse until now. Love this thing! Fits your hand perfectly, all buttons work and with teflon pads it glides so smooooooth!

I love the Mouse
hate the drivers I have got the MX1000 to work with the drivers, but for some reason it has been jacking with my keyboard and mouse settings. It seems to work best if you plug it in via usb, but I have to use PS2 port cause i have a kvm switch ... any why ... for some reason when for no reason at all the computer im on forgets the mouse profile ... like the mouse craps itself and the generic windows 2 button mouse driver kicks in ... aka no scroll wheel support and no extra buttons support. This totaly sucks ... and makes me want to throw my expensive mouse accrost the room ... I have also noticed that for some reason my copy and past are not working right ... aka [Ctrl] + C & [Ctrl] + V crap out ... and I have to use the [rightclick] + <select copy> & [rightclick] + <select paste> to get it to work ... this is not a terible thing, but it is not the way I am use to it. Any ideas or info would be awsome [edit] : Talked to a friend ... he said it might have something to do with the KVM switch I have it Plugged into Last edited by CaffeineAddict; Oct 31, 2004 at 09:49 PM. |

Yeah I have a cheap USB hub that this and other mice does not work too well with, but it's good enough for other USB devices. A performance sensitive thing like a mouse should probably be plugged straight into the motherboard ports whenever possible.

Hi gang,
I just picked up the MX1000 today and its great. But as far as FarCry is concerned I do have an issue that didn't arise with my simple Logitech optical. I am running FarCry 1.3 and I have the latest SetPoint release also. I have bound the extra buttons to 6 of the numpad keys. That is all fine and dandy and I have set my preferred config in FarCry with no dramas. But when I use the right mouse to zoom or one of the other buttons for, say, flashlight or binocular toggle my character halts until I lift my finger of W and repress. I am used to piss-cruisin' through the scrub, whilst looking through my bino's or looking down the barrel of my gun without stopping all of a sudden. It's really frustrating. Any of you chaps have a suggestion for me? |
