just went through this combo, step at a time. each product does make a diff!!.
the mx 1000 was a huge dif over my explorer3. the xtrac(zoom) pad made it smoother. the eels(xtrac) made my mouse feel 'lighter'-dont know if that makes sense- overall i think this combo is the perfect input upgrade! throw in the saitek gaming keyboard--- still getting use to the 'feel & response'-- & i can not imagine a better input setup. aside - i am using the nostromo speedpad 52 instead of the supplied saitek programable keypad- excellent choice for lame key punchers like myself & pro gamers alike. guess what all that BS came dowm to is if you want the killer/flexible input setup for pro & newbie(me) & you have the extra $$ to spend then the mx1000/xtrac pad & eels/saitek keyboard is the ticket!! period.

I'm using mx1000 and I felt the difference right away. Went from mx700 and I gotta say I like it. Like the 700 too. Just wondering if you're using the drivers from them or MS.
