PSU for the future?

What PSU would you recommend for the current time and to be used in future upgrades with PCI-Express cards?

Thanks for the help.

Antec PSU's rock for the price. My true control might be "outdated" for the next gen of hardware, but they'll make all adapters you need.
When I finally upgrade I will still probably use this PSU.

another

There are lots of great PSU's available though.

ultra?

Sorry I disagree (as much as I like the ultra PSUs), id go for an OCZ powerstream, better voltages (and controllable) on the rails.

Definitely not an X-connect....

although i've got one and i'm utterly impressed.... it's not future proof at all.. (power wise yes... but form factor... no)

After PCI-EX start going mainstream, the new BTX form factor is saposed to be show up soon..

The OCZ PowerStream PSU's to the best of my knowledge.. is the ONLY PSU out there that is of high quality AND BTX form factor ready (reason it doesn't have a "bottom" intake, but has 2 fans, one in the front and back)

If you want a futureproof PSU today, Pick up the 520Watt OCZ PowerStream, IMO, best thing you could buy

hehe- I almost bought that one, very nice too.
This is what I really liked about it:
"Smart Fan: After PC shuts down, cooling fans keep running for at least 2 minutes to effectively cool down parts and hardware inside PSU and PC case. Thus, ensure longer product life time of power supply and hardware inside PC case.

Separate 12V rails: Independent 12V rails supply to MB/CPU and drives in order to provide stable and clean current to noise-sensitive devices, such as: CPU, add-on cards."

That one is nice-
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-497&depa=0

And this
http://www.xoxide.com/pc-power-and-c...0w-deluxe.html

Any expensive name brand PSU will be good. Antec/ Enermax/ PC Power and Cooling/ OCZ/ A few other brands.. OCZ's are Tagans with some extra stuff added and made to OCZ's specs, just to let you know before you buy one. (not a bad thing at all, but something you should be aware of)

http://www.tagan.com/main.htm

Go with your gut, read many reviews, etc.. Some reviewers purposefully blow the PSU up to see which ones hold up better. It is your money, you should do a lot of research and figure out what will be best for you. After all my research, I got mine and am VERY happy with it.

OCZ PSU's are NOT tagans, i've specifically seen this mentioned by a OCZ man, enless of course i read wrong..... should i go digging?

They are only "similare" in design... i've seen this mentioned at alot of places that sey that the look similare so they must be tagans only molded to OCZ's liking.... doesn't nessarly mean it's true

They aren't Tagan PSUs, but they are made by Tagan for OCZ.. "Made by" not "are Tagans".. But still, if I was going to buy one I would want to be as educated as possible about the subject. I'd still buy one.

Hmm After looking at those pics in the review here and that review here I guess I thought that Tagan built the main guts of the thing for OCZ..

So OCZ actually builds them in house? I Did not know that. Of course I still haven't heard anyone ever say that. I would look on their website but it seems to be down at the moment.

"The page cannot be displayed" http://www.ocztechnology.com/

Anyway- they are very nice PSU's no doubt. Most companies brag about "Built in-house" like PC power and Cooling, etc... Maybe you could use your connections and ask them if they do too? Now I'm just curious...

First off Guys Tagan is a brand, NOT a manufacturer, it is actually the EU brand of the ToPower line of PSU's although they have found there way to the US also.

Now, PowerStream is made for us by ToPower under a close manufacturing deal that means we are the only supplier that will have the PSU with these specs. The Powerstream is all OCZ, and no one else you will not find a PSU from ToPower the same or Tagan, or Sam Cheer or anyone else that rebrands ToPower PSU's....Its built to our specs and supplied by us. I know this as i spec the voltage lines

Hope this clears things up.

And that is all that matters anyway- just curious about the other stuff, glad you cleared it up.. If my Antec True control ever dies or I ever need a new PSU, I'll definitely be looking hard at the top OCZ model (if I can afford it).. I am addicted to adjusting my rails now. I will never have a PSU that doesn't have that feature from now on.

im glad I dont live where you are Judas, you seem to have to wait months after everything is released to get them. Those OCZ psus have been available in the UK for a long time now.

it utterly bites..... i usually have to pay an extreme amount although i did get a deal going with a friend i know, which is a certain member here...

Some online shopping... but it's still limited... lower prices most of the time..

For example.. i've pointed this out, it would cost me an arm to get a x800 pro from a local place around here.... or from a place that is spread out across canada....

Saskatchewan, were shipping ISN'T cheap and anything electronic is considered GOLD...

I now have access to purchasing the OCZ 520 Watt PowerStream PSU... only for 240 bucks canadian (erg, still high for me)

Paid 150 for the X-Connect i currently have and running in my Sister machine ATM.... (don't have a machine i can stick it in and i WANTED to make sure it ran.... what better place then in a 2500+ @ 3000+
9800 pro

and other hardware....

I've had to wait 3 months just for the NF7-S (orginal and REV2) ... terrible out here, i should boycot em all

hey look on the bright side, over in the states and canada you can use newegg.com (i think canada can anyway) which is such a cheap site, the prices are like less than half of what it is over here.

like the NF7-S i just bought is like $70ish on newegg, but it cost me the equivilant of about $130-140 over here in the uk

Don't somewhere around 80% of all Canadians live within 50 miles of the US border (or something like that)? I don't know the numbers exactly. Maybe that's why these companies don't want to ship hundreds of miles for just a few people? Just a guess.

krips is on a distinguished road

There are 32 million people in Canada and 294.7 million people in the United States. That means that Canada is ~11% of the size of the US - a sizable portion.

50 miles within reach of the US border..... quite plausable.... rediculious though for that being the reason..... look at Toronto or Vancouver.... even Ottawa.... Hell...

http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/canada_e.html

just look at the map, at the far west and majority of the east... majority of the major population are NOT TO FAR from the border at all... but remember, there is alot of people everywere else...... Saskatchewan, more then half of the entire population lives outside the cities......

I would have chosen an OCZ if it werent so frickin huge(long), so Im planning on PCPC 510express, a little more, but I think its fairly future proof pcie connectors and such, but Im gonna have a tight fit in the top of my case if I use non standard ATX sizes.
