It requires a TV card... or similare...
ATI Makes excellent AIW cards that sport all the nessities to watch TV and even record on your computer... There are some stand alone tv tuners as well....

no.... you'd only have to replace it if you were to get a AIW card......
You can get a stand alone TV tuner card, some are even USB or firewire or similare.. (not as good or fuctional though) the cards typically don't run cheap though..... at least for a decent one.... and can be hard to setup and run..... but it's not impossible..... ATM, ATI does have some stand alone solutions that i know of... but i frankly can't provide any information on any of them as of yet. I've only experience with my 9000 pro AIW and that's it.... sorry...

ATI does have a standalone solution, the TV wonder. It has several variations, starting at about $40 for its value and up to $200 for its HDTV wonder. THese are PCI cards, so you can keep your video card, (though they may work better with ATI?)
EDIT: I would highly discourage using the TV wonder in your system, Hawg. I would get some other company's card. After reading some user reviews, it has real problems with Hyperthreading and Nvidia gpus. Newegg has many other choices to choose from

I knew it had to be a pretty simple solution being as the cable that brings in the internet signal brings in the TV signal as well. Thanks guys.I do think I will steer clear of the ATI TV stuff. It would be kinda like putting a Ferarri engine in a Lamborghini. Both are great cars but I dont think they would mix to well togther.

Keep in mind you will have to use a cable splitter, so you can have one line go to the cable modem, and the other to the TV card.

....I must inform you of one thing though, every extra TV connection in use can bring your internet connection down just a slightest bit.... and if you y off the connection directly at your modem.... it can sometimes get ugly..... (it's best to bring in another cable connection from the main box on the side of your house..... leave all the seperate connections y off from there)

I think that has more to do with the cable company, though. My previous home was in a house with a massive nest of cables and splitters coming from the main line, and I still got a clean signal both to my TV card and my cable modem (which were also split in my room.)
If there's ever a problem with either signal, you can just give your cable company a call, and they should be able to fix it in under an hour, if they're competent.

My cable co,Adelphia, has also started selling x-tra signal. As far as the internet goes. For $20.00 x-tra per month they will boot youre up-link and down-link speed.I didnt opt for it.The FRIGGEN bill is allready almost $100.00 per month. And thats with NO premimum channels like HBO or ShowTime added. Those folks are making $$$ hand over fist.I would look into getting the dish but when you just have internet and no cable TV those jackasses hit you for another $15.00 bux per month! And I have no DSL in my neck of the woods.

A little OT. man that is a ripoff mine charges $5.00 extra for the internet if you don't get TV through them. I've been thinking about going back to the dish myself. However, I'm waiting since I'll be a getting a nice HDTV soon so I'm thinking of Voom.
