Hi,
I'm nutnut^ and im from the UK. I'm looking to build a new machine. My Current Machine is a athlon xp 2800+ with a radeon 9800 pro. I want to build something which lasts and is maybe a bit future proof. I'm looking for good uk suppliers to deal with to get this machine. Quality of components and performance are a must for me. I've heard of the ATI Radeon Xpress Chipset for AMD but cannot find any boards out yet with it. I'm a CounterStrike player (1.6) So CounterStrike has to run like a dream and maybe CSS if everyone switches to it at cpl etc. I do play other games now and again and I demand quite a lot from my system such as video editing. I've not build a pc for gaming for some time so I dont know whats the best route in regards to athlon 64 or pentium 4. Thanks for any help nutnut^. |

From what i hear www.overclockers.co.uk is the way to go over there in the UK, as for parts, Xpress 200 isn't out quite yet I don't think...atleast not in mass production.
If you do mroe then gaming, such as video editing or sound transforming, I seriously suggest you look to intel instead of AMD, but that's just me |

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I've looked at overclockers and they seem quite good. I ordered a headset from them and got it next day. I'm currently using Adobe Premier to put together a movie taken from ingame recordings and maybe at some point some camcorder footage. I'll need firewire and sata, but I also want to use the machine for gaming. When I get in from work tonight I'll pick out some hardware and if anyone can point out pros and cons in the system it would be appricated. I'm ready to spend a lot of money on a system in a flashy case and I want to make the right choice. I cant find any cases I like either. Is there anything new coming out that should make me wait until after xmas to buy? Any help is very appreciated. Regards nutnut^. |

welcome to DH.
firstly i will just mention i have moved this to Technology Discussion & Support as you are asking more of a tech question than gaming.if you don't see this first there is a re-direct in the game forum. on topic i use www.overclockers.co.uk (as already mentioned) and is one of most used website for pc stuff.i find their service top notch but can't comment on returns as i have never done so yet(may say something) www.dabs.com is another i use on occasion.but sometimes more expensive than overclockers. |

if you are going to buy intel, there is no reason to wait....
if you want AMD64, you may wanna wait and see how the Radeon Xpress 200 turns out perhaps Z can come bestow his words of wisdom for ya, as I personally have never touched an AMD64 machine... |

replying is my job---errr---hobby
![]() My suggestion is to go intel unless you have the $$ to buy an Athlon FX chip, and even then, if you can get yer hands on a P4EE, you won't be dissappointed. The other thign you gotta decide is whether you want AGP or PCI-x16, and DDR or DDR2, aside form thsoe 3 choices, the rest is decided by budget/personal preference, really. |

hehe, cool.
Well I plan to sell parts from my current system. I only paid 100ukp for my radeon 9800 pro with Artic Cooling Vga Cooler. I can probably get 100ukp for it still. I wanna go PCI Express and DDR2 unless something better is out soon, I just wanna pick a form factor which will be around for a long time and I wont have a crap system in 6 months. ![]() nutnut^ |
