Hey guys
Well i think i want to get a new monitor for my computer and sell this Env!sion EN-770e 17" CRT screen (which is worth 140$ retail and used about 80 =x)..... I was at a mini lan party with my friends yesterday, and I noticed that all of their screens gives a sorta crisper and a nicer, brighter image (without crankin up gamma). my friends Sony SMD-HS73/B 17" monitor caught my eye, though while playing counter strike it looked sort of blurry while walking.... here is a pic of what it looked like (which to me it looked in real life a lot bigger than my 17" monitor 0-o) I would like to get a LCD screen but people say that the quality isn't as good as a CRT screen.... but yea, im looking for a good quality monitor from a worthy company, good picture quality, and that is at least 19" or if possible 21" (for 1200x1600), and a if possible stylish too ...id prefer a flat LCD screen, but if I can get a better deal on a CRT screen that will also give me better quality or sharper image I will go for that.... now on the price im not sure just make sure its not toooo high because im hoping I can get enough money at Christmas from relatives ect.. to get me a new screen... Evil!

Dell 2100FP = 20.1 inch LCD, retail's for between 7 and 800 and from what I hear, it's the best you can buy. I also highly reccomend the Samsung Syncmaster LCDs

id go with the dell 2001fp like was suggested.
*sorry to thread jack* i was looking around this evening and found i could get a 42" plasma with a bad display for about ~100. im going to call around and see how much its gonna cost me to get fixed, if reasonable i think ill have my self a nice plasma screen. i would assume plasma's would work great with pc gameing but im not entirely sure. any one know? *sorry to thread jack* |

My personal preference would lean towards the 2005FPW... it's the widescreen 20.1" version of the (4x3) 2001FP
The 2005 also knocks the response time down to 12ms... so there's a possibility that it may wash some colours out... but to be fair... the newer samsung 12ms monitors are as good as their 16ms counterparts... so the 12ms dell could easily be very good... I just like the fact that it's widescreen... 1680x1050 Pixel resolution. The 2001FP monitor is also a great choice... 16ms & 1600x1200 & 20.1"... probably what I will be getting as you can't get the 2005 in the UK... Allan (Zardon) has two of them and he raves about them. Here's the 2001FP - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/P...ctlisting.aspx and here's the 2005FPW - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/P...k=&refurbished= as for the plasma 'another-user', they are ok for gaming... problem is the cheaper-end ones have a low resolution and normally do not have a DVI in and most don't even have a VGA in... so you would have to use composite... I've done big screen gaming on a cheap-ish plasma tv and it makes your eyes hurt after too long... it's much better to get a large tft than a cheap plasma... but if you can get it nice and cheap and you use it for a tv... then the novelty of gaming on it can be there from time to time without much harm

Save up a little money.. if you want to get the best image quality... get either that LCD dell or the Samsung SyncMaster 1100DF (22inch and runs 1600x1200@90+hz and actually DOES do 2048x1536@85hz because i've tested it myself)
the samsung 1100DF is by far the best CRT monitor i've touched yet, serpassing even my 900IFT i have which IMO, didn't think it would be possible... Look around, the 1100 df is pretty good... i paid 650 canadian and after tax + the large 3 year warranty deal from the specific store.... you should bea ble to get it for easily 400-450 after tax from a retail store.. who knows how much cheaper over the net.... It'll greatly compliment your x800XT PE (droolz)

1100DF is the way to go if you can't afford to big boy expensive LCD's....
The monitor puts Triniton monitors to shame...

Similare tech is being used in both monitors.... i knw that a 955 or any other 900 variant that isn't an IFT won't compare to a triniton.....
