??? A64 - WinXP SP2 & You!!!

I maybe upgrading to an Athlon 64 soon. Is there still a major issue with SP2 and these processors?

There never really was much of an issue. Some applications might have issues with the DEP feature in SP2, but all of those were likely badly coded in the first place and all serious applications should now be fixed to apply with the DEP security function that Microsoft introduced in SP2. DEP really is a good thing, but can also be disabled if needed. The only reason why Athlon64's show up in relation to this is that it was the first CPU with hardware support for this new security function.

there was never a problem with the A64's, magazine i got said they narrowed it down to one of the Intel P4 chips and i think the Celeron D, but its only specific motherboard/cpu combinations that seem to suffer.

but i can tell you i know nobody (including myself) with an A64 that has had problems with SP2

Alright, thanks for the replies folks. I just heard by word of mouth some folks were having an issue with it. Good since I can't find my SP1 slip-streamed copy of XP!
