This happened to me literally last week. I'm 99% sure that it is the processor kicking in with it's over heating protection (even though the thing is just being turned on and is not really heating up). Long story short, the heatsink simply needs to be taken off, then thermal grease reapplied (slowly and VERY carefully). I don't know why this happens because the thing in reality isn't over heating. I've seen this happen with both AMD and Intel chips, in shuttle pc's and regular desktops. I know that you are sure you have applied the stuff properly and everything was done right the first time, but I honestly don't know why this sort of stuff happens.
Like I said, I'm 99% sure that is the cause. If I'm right about this problem, it will be the 3rd time I've seen it happen in the last 2 weeks on a machine. Just remember to go extra slow to absolutely make sure everything is done by the book. |
