Need a good heatsink/fan for Socket A (462)
Yeah I need a new one cause the heatsink I have now isn't all that great and the fan is pretty loud and doesn't do that good of a job. So anyone have any recommendations on what a good one might be?
Thanks

80mm Fan or Aero 7 turbine (or something more advanced) - if you produce an 80mm style airflow with a 60mm fan, it'll be noisy as hell.
I like the slighly wedge shaped 80mm ones, where the fins taper back a bit to the base, and the 80mm fan is on the top - a style made by several, and usually enough cooling for standard to mild overclocking, and quieter than most older 60mm fan designs of average performance. Never seen a "bad" one in that style. http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...ock_review.php The Whisper Rock IV - I'd sum it up myself as "adequate cooling, excellent quiet". One thing I remember from Aero 7 tests - the Aero 7 blower loses performance faster than it loses noise, and it ALWAYS lost out to quiet 80mm designs if turned down to the same noise level. Just to make things more clear: I want a heatsink/fan combo that's good at cooling and has a relatively low dBA level at the same time. Again, only for Socket A (Socket 462).
I was looking towards Zalman and SilenX, but other suggestions would be good. Thanks guys ![]() Some good ones here: http://www.xoxide.com/amdsoc462coo.html

Yeah, but the Volcano 12 has that front fan controller... And my CoolerMaster case wouldn't close all the way over that knob that sticks out.

Dunno, I hate dust
![]() I suppose the Volcano 12 can't be that bad... just push the FC further inside the case... And if I get that I can also get this: http://www.xoxide.com/ductingmod.html

ALX800 the aluminum ver SLK800 copper ver are the best coolers http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...ct_slk800u.htm you likely can't use any of the larger ones of thier series eccept for the new 120's becouse thier a tight fit on the A7n8x-e deluxe...

well, the vantec Aeroflow is a good fan for the money. The fan isn't spun by a motor, but rather magnetic tips on the inside of the enclosure just outside of the fan. Works excellent. I put one in my sister's system to replace the POS coolermaster fan it had in it. Her CPU temps went down from 120F idle, 140 load to around 105F idle, 115F load.

![]() ![]() Here is what i have just put together on my new rig, very quiet and probably the best cooler around from what I have read. This little monster ships with the unit allowing for P4 and K8 mounting.

the best cooler for P4, is the thermalright sp-94. Not available anymore, that beast cut down temps on P4 chips by quite a bit. I want one so bad. I'm considering going to water cooling if i can't find one.
