monitors acting up again

well my monitors starting to act up....again.

when i first turn on the monitor after its been off for 45min or more, i have 1/2in black bars on both sides of my monitor. after about 10 min's and the monitors been able to warm up a bit the bars get smaller and smaller, until they disappear to nothing.

is this a sign that my monitor may be dieing or just something to not worry about much?

its a NEC multisync 6FGp. from what i can tell its almost 10 years old. i got it in 2000 from the place where my dad works, they threw it out because it was no longer a quality monitor for there high precision arts dept. up stairs.
after i got it, ive ran it a good 8 hours a day for the last 5 years or so. its suited me well but im just afraid taht with how its been acting this last year it may be on its last leg.

Problem lies in the horizontal output stage, could be the size or pincushion portions of that stage (a leaky capacitor is likely since it goes away after warmup, but could also be a "leaky" transistor). The part is likely very inexpensive, but nobody will likely do that sort of repair for less than $65.00 (US) - gotta make a livin'... The monitor is dying, albeit slowly - that lack of proper horizontal deflection is stressing the rest of the components in the horizontal stage which is the primary current drawing portion of any monitor.

The CRT is at the end of its life too (10 years...). Might be time to salute that well serving unit and look for a new one...
