Thanks all for putting up with all of my noobish questions. This is my first build ever, and only my 3rd PC. 1st was an HP pavillion (stinking piece of #$%& that it was....) 2nd I spec'd myself but had it assembled, this time I finally made it all the way. It booted on the first try so I have to admit that I'm feeling quite proud of myself, looks better than I expected as well. I'm sure I'll be asking plenty more questions though, as now the overclocking saga begins.....you'll just have to bear with me some more on that point

Hats off to all of you who have helped me along the way to get this far!!!

Did you trim up the length on those X-Connect cables?

Tulcakelume: yeah as pr0digal said, its an Exos kit. Very easy to setup though a bit on the expensive side. Not sure what you meant by European though....

Drakesteakn: When I took those pics I had just finished re-arranging some cables so the 24 pin cable is unplugged. There is a jumper between pin 4 and 6 on the power cable, thats why the fans and lights are powered. The power connection over the GPU is only needed when running a 2nd GPU so I will not be needing that one.

Drakon: Yeah, they are stock 120 mm fans, the rear one (LED) is very quiet with only a soft whir of air movement, the front one (non LED) is a bit annoying with a slight whine. I am hoping to find a more quiet replacement for it. The hard drive cage is removable so that one will be very easy to replace. The blue cathodes came from Xoxide, the red one (I broke the 2nd red one trying to put it somewhere it didn't belong....) is from Fry's.

Iridium: no they are all stock length cables, I wish there were an option to buy shorter ones though.

Thanks for the props guys.....

Ahh cool. how much did u pay for the cathode's? what about the fan on the side, is that one noisy? i'm just curious about the Tsunami case, cuz i plan on getting one when i'm ready to build my rig.

The blue one's came with the case (as a freebie from Xoxide) the red one was $14 at Fry's. I have not figured out a clean way to power the side fan yet so I have not even powered that one up yet. I'm probably going to have to figure out how to build a plug and do a bit of customising there.

If you use that case with cathodes like I did, make sure to install the 2 in the top from the right side of the case before you put anything else in, otherwise they will never make it in.

I'll give that fan a listen though and post later.

Damn that a SWEET tsunami case... Very clean unlike mine My damn power cables on my thermaltake purepower thingy are just TOO LONG... 5 meters length in total... All crammed in my case! And for first timer, I think you own many people here who've made more than one PC (you own me at least )

HOLD THE PHONE!

My new rig is having SERIOUS problems. From windows wierdness to electrical failure and now the optical drives that were in it dont work when I put them back in their old rig. I'll start a new thread in this forum for this problem.

Its all detailed here:

Nice setup.....

Ouch #1 nforce4 was slower then Nforce3 ultra in tests....
Ouch #2 nforce4's nvidia card optumizations hamper the perfomance of ATI cards
Ouch #3 "PEG" link mode now works for nvidia cards (i think only)

Other then that nforce4 is feature rich but really people with or that want to use ATI are maybe better off waiting for a fairer soultion... like VIA kt890 bet even then the kt890 is slower then the kt800....

What i Don't get why and were not seeing sigle PCIe slot boards insted of just this SLI crap.

Agreed, I would have been better served by waiting a bit or perhaps even by going with nforce3. Just got sick of waiting and it looked as if ATI boards were still quite aways out so I jumped.
