Video playback of HD WMV

So Judas and I were talking and on my rig p4 HT 1GB OCZ Ram 240*4 fsb (3.36Ghz) and a 6800GT AGP, the step into liquid video runs fine at full screen with wmp 10 and on his rig a 2500+ @ 3000+ fsb 166 and a radeon 9800, the video runs like hell at 3-4 fps with bunches of dropped frames with wmv acceleration enabled or not. We all know my 6800 isn't doing anything as far as video acceleration goes so whats the big difference here? is it HT? is it the p4's bigger(wider) fsb? what gives? btw when running the video my processor is at 65-75% while his is at 100%.... anyone who knows more and can explain whats going on we'd appreciate it....

Well, you do have >1GHz on him, and probably twice the memory bandwidth. Those may be factors.
Btw, did you use the 720 or the 1080?

intel does much better on video then AMD does also.....

ok...on my machine it ;ags in WMP10, but plays at a perfect 29FPS in winamp ....

i know the Intel CPU has alot of me .... but damn, that still beyond terrible. My 9000 Pro AIW with a 2600+ runs it almost flawlessly... with a little less CPU usage... (80+ )

There must be a software or codec issue if it runs that badly. Try reinstalling WMP10, and see if some codec pack might perhaps interfer as well. The Windows Media Player also seems to add some filtering techniques itself, wich shows that it draws around 70-80% on my system in WMP10 but around 35-40% in Media Player Classic (with a tad bit lesser image quality, but not much). AthlonXP 2600+(166), R9800, Omega 4-12b, WMV acc on.

i've no codec packs installed.. CLEAN system....
