Athlon 64 3200+ vs. Pentium 4 550 3.4

After searching around on forums here and articles and benchmarks all over the internet on various sites, I've come to the conclusion that these two processors are not far apart from each other.

My question is, I'm wondering which processor I should chose to use. I'd mainly be using this computer for gaming (half-life 2, cs:source) as well as DVD encoding with CCE SP.

The main components I'm using now are...

BFG GeForce 6800GT OC
Audigy 2 ZS
Maxtor 160 gig 7200rmp
WD 160 gig 7200rmp
1.5 gig Kingston HyperX PC4000 (3x512)
Antec 430w TruePower PS

Im currently using the AMD64 processor, but I have the option of using the P4. I know that the 754 Socket AMD64 does not have any motherboards that support dual channel, where the Intel boards for this processor would. The Intel motherboards also support PC4200 (DDR2 533) where the AMD64 for this processor doesn't support higher than PC3200. Its just the small things that I'm not sure if they would make enough of a difference to switch. I don't know if anyone knows any reason why I should use one over the other, but If you do, I'd appriciate the advice. Thank you for your time.

The AMD.Windows 64 will be out in 90 days.And from what I'm reading hardware makers will have drivers out by then en mass to support it.I also had a rig with DDR2.It was not worth the x-tra $$$.At least to me it wasnt.

Yeah I was reading about the release of the 64-Bit edition of Windows XP. I wonder if that would balance me towards staying with the AMD.
