3DMARK05 Question:AMD FX-53 vs Intel P-4????

I have a question about the "CPU Score" or whatever it's called.My rig had an Intel P-4 3.0GHz proc. at 3.6GHz.It scored 3902 Points.My rig now has an AMD FX-53 2.4GHz Proc. at 2.7 GHz.it scores 1162 Points.Everything I read says the AMD CPU is much better for gaming than the Intel CPU.And also everything I read says 3DMARK05 is the gaming benchmark.My score went from 5890 points with the Intel CPU to 2243 points with the AMD CPU.Everything in the rig stayed the exact same except MoBo and CPU.Please explain?????...Thanks.

Dude don't use a benchmark like 05 for your CPU. Try checking out your FPs in the actual games, I guarentee it'll be better, your 53 @ 2.7 reams any P4 in gaming.

3dmark05 really isn't a good cpu benchmark, but the scores should not have changed that much.

did you do a clean install of windows when you changed boards?

Sure did.Re-loaded it all.The CPU score is whats bringing the score down.Everything else is the same as far as FPS in the test.I figured the test mite be geared towards clock cycles.And I KNOW the AMD kills the Intel.Something just aint right.

what drivers are you using for video? the 71.20s are working well for me.

did you update your chipset drivers?

If I remember correctly, that particular test is multi-threaded, so of course the Intel scores higher.
Don't waste yourself away with these synthetic benchmarks, they don't mean that much in the end.

You know I really dont care that much about them.But there was such a BIG gap in the 2 tests I thought something was wrong.

Well you should be hitting around 5000 cpu marks in '05 for sure. Seems like you have cool n' quiet on or something. Make sure its disabled in the bios and you dont have the AMD driver installed(use windows default).
