LCD Help me decide Dell 2001FP or ViewSonic VP201S

Dell have a sale on at the moment on the 2001FP 20.1" LCD putting it at £457 and the other contender is the ViewSonic VP201S Pro Series 20.1" which is still £761. I can afford both but am torn. Is this Dell decrease due to a new model coming out does anyone know?

Can anyone recommend a better one of the same size?

Thanks

Get the Dell, the price alone should be enough to give you the answer, not to mention the Dell is a highly-praised monitor regardless.

Did it last night, I went for the 2001FP. I was tempter by the new 2005FPW widescreen one, but mainly by the 12ms refrsh time that it has, but since gaming is my main bag it wasn't a good choice since there are some games which just wont be coerced into running in WS resolutions.

10 days for delivery though. Grrr

well... firstly I know where you can get the viewsonic over 100 quid cheaper than that and as for the dell... it's a good monitor... practically the same monitor in a different case. Dell have just released the 2005FW... a 20.1" widescreen that does 1600x1024 resution... which would be my personal favourite.

I just got myself a 1704fp ultrasharp from dell and i love it zero dead pixels, plays great in games no ghosting and image clarity is amazing, everything just looks so much better and you cant lose with the dell three year warranty and the rma process wich is next day shipping.

I dont recommend anyone goes for a 2005FPW until they can fix the lighting issues. I'm waiting on my third one and if its the same its gonna make me think this is just the way they are made...which really suxs. The top right and bottom left corners leak way too much light; so much infact that you notice even in the brightest rooms. You made the right choice and I think after this one I will exchange for another 2001FP. One thing is for sure tho, Dell's support is amazing! They overnight me every monitor those crazy fools.
I'm sure you'll love the 2001FP!

I read a review on a couple of different forums, all of them stated that the 2005FPW they had leaked light in those locations. They said they thought it was due to the enhanced brightness and the 12ms panel.

Yeah probably but that is no way of increasing brightness But I received my rma Friday, its a new revision, and its perfect imo. I went through Nov and Dec Rev.00 parts and they were no good; this Jan Rev.01 is awesome and a keeper. Took them a while but it seems they have fixed all the probs
