arrow Motherboards

Okay, so we all know that a motherboard is probably more important than the giggage of memory and the speed of the processor, quality, features and performance all come into various hues of the picture, and if it looks good, that's an added bonus.

For years Intel has been the big boy in the arena and have created most of their own chipsets for their processors. When AMD finally broke through to the bigger market and showed that they were here to stay and be truly competitive the motherboard market sort of went haywire.

Suddenly having two different processors to manufacture for, some board manufacturers simply opted to make for only one chip, and then Intel started to sue people (namely VIA).

Now, after what many have called a slump in the hardware market where nothing really awesome or new was introduced, and even big companies like Intel and ATI were awarded Vapourware awards for not getting as far as they had promised, things look promising.

Both Intel and AMD have released new form factors for their processors, ATI and nVidia have gotten involved in the motherboard market and PCI-e has finally hit the shelves.

So the question is, what is coming, what would we like to see, and what is the drool factor of the new boards? For example, I think a DFI Lanparty ATI Radeon Express 200 Motherboard would be awesome, but what will nVidia pull out of the hat?

Here are some links and articles...

ATI Radeon Express 200 and 200P

nVidia nForce 4
http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce4_family.html

So, which motherboard would you like to see? What features do you think a motherboard should have for both the workstation arena as well as the home user and the power gamer? What about price? Does the chip on the board matter, or is it all about graphics?

Let your mind vomit out answers here!

Iridium is on a distinguished road

I am curious as to how the Nforce 5 platform will perform. Nforce has always been a good choice for AMD, now hopefully they will add to the competition in the marketplace with a strong showing for the Intel CPU based MOBOs.
