1yr. or 5yr. warranty on Seagate Barracudas?

Well, i just bought myself a pair of 80Gb SATA Seagate Barracuda HDDs from my work earlier today. I for the longest time thought that Barracudas had a 5yr. warranty (newegg says 5yr. warranty). I check my work's website, and it says 1yr. warranty on the Barracudas. Now i'm a little confused as to the extent of the warranty is . I checked Seagate's website for the model numbers of the two HDDs, and it only brought me up the HDD specifications/statistics, but nothing on the warranty. Does anybody know how long the warranty actually is on these HDDs?

The model number on the HDDs are:
1. ST380817AS
2. ST380013AS

as far as i know all 'cudas carry 3yr warranty. even though those drives may (i doubt it) have been manafactured when they were only doing 1yr, it is the date of purchase that matters.
i believe the raptor is the only non-scsi drive besides maxtors maxline2 series to offer 5yrs.
of course i could be completly wrong. again.
fyi my 160 cuda has 3yrs, my 74 raptor has 5yrs.

i was wrong. again. . all seagate drives purchased through legitimate retail sources have 5 yr warranty. dates back to mid 2004.

I posted a link once, I think you specifically replied to it, too.
Any way, you can go to their site and do a warranty check with your serial numbers if you want to be sure.

i've replied to so many threads......i don't remember which one specifically it was. But yea, i'll check out their website again.

It was a pain in the @$$ to install those two drives too. I had to remove one of my two intake fans in order for the HDDs not to get in the way of my 6800GT. That card is so damn big !. I was barely able to make them fit.

on the 7200.7 120GB i just bought it say 5 years on the box....
on thier website it says 3 years I assume the box is correct
I'm pretty sure you get 3 or 5 years....

unless you bought OEM and alot of makers only offer / offerd 1 year.....

I don't worry about stuff like that much
I pobubly won't own it over a year with
my upgrade cycle anyways

check out the two links that vampy provided. Fill in the blanks, and it will tell you exactly how long the warranty is on your seagates.

Yep, I'm very impressed by my Seagate drive, too. It's very quiet, and surprisingly fast!
(I had thought Seagates traded some performance to be so quiet, but not this current line of drives!)

i don't know if they're as quiet as everybody says they are. My two seagates i'd say can be as noisy as my raptor, especially when defraging .

Is there a benchmarking program out there specifically for HDDs? I want to compare my raptor vs. my seagates vs. my 60Gb WD 8Mb.

http://www.storagereview.com/ this site should give you all the info you need.
i agree. considering the speed of the raptor it is amazingly quite. though my 'cuda is quieter. i never hear it.
then again i have 7 case fans(not counting the 2 in 1 ps & the 1 fan in the other ps). they are not all going at once but it still can be fairly loud
thk god i have a really good souind setup

I checked out the site

well, i have 3 case fans, and two tornados in my system. quietness it totally not a factor in my purchase of my seagates. I got them, cuz i got an awsome deal on them and they're one of my two favorite HDD manufacturers .
