Windows doesnt realise its connected to a wireless network

Just recently my wireless connection has messed up abruptly. It all started when I reinstalled protowall (which I have done countless times with no problems) My connection began to become 'limited' so I couldnt access the internet after that.

After trying countless fixes eventually it stopped displaying the limited connection and appeared it wasnt connected at all. As when connecting it wouldnt stop trying.

But now I realise strangely I am connected yet windows doesnt realise I am. The connection at the bottom shows a 'Not connected' symbol

And when I open up the windows wireless connection program it also says im not connected

Im running Windows XP SP2 with all the latest security patches.

Can anyone help me out?

Have you uninstalled protowall again to see if that is the problem?

Yep Ive fully uninstalled it as well as reinstalled it.

what kind of router/NIC are you using?

Ive got a BT Voyager 2000, I doubt thats the problem though as I can still connect normally using a fresh install of windows on another partition.

A minute ago for a brief moment it showed it was connected, but after a minute it went back to saying it wasnt when it clearly was
