problems booting my system this morning

normaly my comp hates cold boots everyday, but today it was alot worse. normaly it turns on just fine, goes to the windows loading screen, does its thing there and then hangs. after i hit reset it does its thing and starts with out problems.

today it decided to be diffrent. it wouldnt post and neither of the cd/dvd roms would turn on. i ended up turning it off and then on 3 times, then on the 3rd try the lights on my keyboard started blinking on and off. bout 10 seconds later it finaly posted and started up just fine.

the only thing ive done to my case latly was spray compressed air in there trying to clean it out, and that was several days ago.

system specs
A64 3200+, no OC'ing
2x512 kingston hyperX
MSI k8T Neo Fis2r
480watt Thermaltake PurePower
160gig western digital.
current temps. 32C cpu, 27C case.

if it hangs and you have to cold boot it everytime, I reccomend defragging and cleaning out your registry, then cleanign your prefetch list and perhaps eliminating as many startup actiosn as possible. If it still has issues, i would re-install windows.

run a CPU stress test like TOAST, and a memory stress test like memTest. Might be your memory or CPU that is faulty.

no, you just kinda let it run and do it's own thing. if your CPU isn't stable, then your system will reboot.

perhaps u should let the test run a lil longer, that way the cpu or memory gets a good "workout." i would say run it for a few hrs if possible.

yea, that might be it too. How many devices (HDDs, optical drives) do you have installed in your system? What about video card? Does the video card require additional power?

as for devices and what not... i have 1 dvd-rom, 1 CD-burner, 1 160gig HD, 8 case fans (from what i can tell this PSU was made for this case) 1 Heatsink, and the x800pro that requires additional power.

*this morning everything started up just fine. im hopeing yesterday was just a some odd ball mess up that will never happen again.

your PSU readouts seem to be normal. Maybe your PSU is going out and that's how it's telling you it's going out. Have you tried a different PSU (like a friend's or something) in your system?
