Fan in or out
I just installed my thermalright XP 120 Heatsink and what I am wandering is, is the fan suppose to blow in on the heatsink or blow away from it?

blow inwards towards the fins,this help remove the hot air inbetween the fins.

as mig said. in case you can not tell, most fans have arrows on the side denotating airflow & rotation.

i have it blowing in, I just couldnt find anywhere in the instructions where it said to blow in or out and done some searching on the net and couldnt come up with anything either.
Seems to be working fine: Before: 39 idle 53 load Now: 30 idle 41 load |

now to blow in, the arrow should be facing towards the base of the heatsink, right? i always get confused by these things...

Yeah the arrow points in the direction the air blows. So arrow pointing towards the heatsink is right. I always plug mine in first and check them to make sure there stamped right.

Most heatsinks work better with the fan blowing in - the turbulence from the fan blades actually helps the cooling, and the blast from the fan penetrates deeper - unlerss the flow is deliberately ducted, the replenishment of an EXTRACTING fan takes the easiest route.
