VIA Announces P4PB, World's First Mainboard Featuring the VIA Apollo P4X333
VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced the VIA P4PB Mainboard, the world's first mainboard to fully harness the awesome performance of the VIA Apollo P4X333, the most advanced chipset for the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor platform.
The P4PB's impressive feature set includes 533/400MHz FSB support, as well as support for the new DDR333 SDRAM with ECC, providing the Pentium® 4 with 2700MB/sec of fast double data rate memory. Additional high-end features include RAID ATA/133 0,1 which can effectively double hard drive performance (striping) or offer data back-up (mirroring), USB 2.0 providing data transfer speeds of up to 40 times faster than the present USB 1.1 standard, and onboard 6 channel surround sound audio for a total home theatre entertainment experience.
"The unsurpassed feature set and unprecedented performance levels of the VIA Apollo P4X333 chipset has enabled the VIA P4PB mainboard to break all performance records on the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor platform," commented Richard Brown, Director of Marketing at VIA Technologies, Inc.
The VIA P4PB is an ATX form factor board with three DDR333/266 DIMMs. Expansion is provided though five PCI, one AGP, and a CNR slot. Smart Card and Memory Stick support is also available.
