hmm.. it turns out that xbrite actually DOES work, i played ut2k4 on a sony monitor and i must say, it looks really great...

It's like playing GBA games on a DS, listening to satelite radio, using an optical mouse, seeing a movie in widescreen, watching a DVD of your favorite film, or using S-video or componet cables. Try going back just once, and you swear up and down that it'll be the last time, cuz everything else is shit compared to what you have now or have seen! LOL
