Disconnections...

Hi!

I have a real problem here. I get disconnected a lot when playing Battlefield Vietnam, and I remember that it happened some times with Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3. In Battlefield, the image just stutter like if it was lagging, then I get the message ''Disconnected''.

I have a splitted connection between 2 computers here (gaming/mother), and I was wondering if the problem was the modem, the computers or my Internet Service Provider (I am rather far from the nearest server).

Please help me!!! It`s really annoying having a good score and then getting disconnected!

Thanks for the reply!

Well, I have DSL Basic from Bell Sympatico (Quebec,Canada) and I use a router. I just got disconnected from my favorite server in BFV thrice in 20 minutes...

Disconnections can happen in any games, any servers. Only Counter-Strike Source has not yet disconnected me... But I choose only quebec servers... Maybe Battlefield use too much bandwitch

that shouldn't be the case... what kind of router you using... perhaps you can get something that will monitor and report if you've been disconnected..... although my method of knowing is rather terrible.. i use winamp and constantly play a internet station... such as digitally imported... or whatever you may like.....as long as you know the place has a solud 24/7 connection.... you should know IF your getting your net completely cut off or not.

it's also worth giving your ISP a calll soemtimes... just tell them to run a signal test on your line... or if they can do a thorough test to see if there is something somewhat out of "alignment" be a small problem that isn't really worrysome.... and if they find anything.. tell them to fix it. You are paying for a always on connection... you should not be getting disconnected 3 times in a short period of time at all....

also, try doing traceroutes to the server your connecting to.. perhaps it's something your ISP can't do anything about.....

also try your machine direct to the modem, bypassing the router, to rule out router problems
