What do yawl think of this cooling solution..?????
[color=DarkRed]I have a Zalman Reserator 1 on my SLi rig for cooling.I have an old refrigerator downstairs that still works but isn't being used right now.I wanna take the cooling tower and put it in the refrigerator.Drill 2 holes in the side of the refrigerator for the water tubes to go through.......get the idea?It will keep the water in the tower a good 40 degrees or so????.I know it's not Vapo-Chill but close I guess....?????????????????????????Plus,I wouldnt have to go upstairs to get a Coke!!!

while i know absolutly nothing about watercooling, that doesnt sound like a bad idea at all and should work quite well. the only possible problem i could even see would be the water starting to freeze when its not in use.
but if your just putting it in the fridge and not the freezer, i don think you would have to worry about that. |

(depending on the fridge) i also sugest you grab a new pump cause that little submerged pump in the reserator will get killed with the extra tubing and water. if you need help on pump choise give me a shout

You'd need a radiator to be effective.. the fridge will constantly run..
it will be very hard on it and it will use a lot of power. Plus if the water is cold and the room temp is warm and you don’t have really good airflow you’ll have to worry about condensation too!

You’ve never herd the sound when your fridges condenser kicks on? But, if your fridge “runs” like that constantly there is likely a problem with it. I don’t think you understand how a refrigerator works. Normally inside a fridge, which is insulated from the out side heat and air tight. Just like you basic ice chest or cooler. The fridges condenser cools the air and the temperatures of the items inside to a certain point. Then the condenser kicks off and the fridge basically is off until the temperature rises reaches a point. Witch the adjustable temperature thermostat kicks in and starts the condenser and it repeats the process over and over… With heat constantly being pumped inside the fridge will constantly run to pump the heat out…So thecondenser will have to run practically 24/7. It’s like central air or heating. The furnace or air-conditioning unit sets there off. Until the temperature (detected by the thermostat) changes to, above or below the temperature it’s been set to. It then closes a circuit and fires up the unit and your house is then heated or cooled… Having your stuff cooled like that would be like have the window open in the dead of winter and the heat turned up, it would constantly run….When the units or not running they use virtually no power but when they are running they use quite a bit.
