AMD Clawhammer

Does anyone know ANYTHING about this upcoming CPU? Is it still going to be released even though AMD is backing out of the desktop scene? Post any valid rumors you've heard please...Thanks

Well, AMD is not backing out of the desktop scene as far as I know.

The clawhammer, now known as the Athlon 64, will be announced and released In Q1 2003.

I've heard rumours it will be rated at 3 ghz, but don't quote me on that. There is more info on most tech sites, but I'd recommend going to anandtech and searching in their archives for "clawhammer".

You'll find alot of info there.

Yeah. The 64 bit thing was the only thing that I have ever heard about the Clawhammer. Is this going to be more of a consumer CPU or a server type of CPU?

It is solely a Desktop CPU.

The Server side cpu was known as The Opteron, although I'm not sure what it is called now.
