there is a prolly a slight dfference in performance, but not as great as the difference you'd notice between the XP and the Sempron

Personally if i were you I'd try to pick up a Althon XP 2500+ mobile. its a lot cheaper than the 3200+ and a better performer.

I bought a XP 2500 M myself and it's great. No multi lock and it runs at 200 X 11 no prob and OC easily past that. Although I dont OC cause it's my 2nd PC, file server.

Another vote for a 2500+ mobile.

Officially, no desktop motherboard supports, that is, it is not recognised as a standar CPU. Most, if not all mobo's will detect either a "unknown CPU" or sopme form of made up + rating, like silly things like Duron 3000+ or XP 2500+ and higher etc...
The CPU runs fine on most motherboards, or should I say, any board that supports Bartons with 266 and higher FSB. AMD does not want motherboard manufacturers to have BIOS's to recognise it as a "XP-M 2500+" etc... cause that would violate their contracts etc... and impede on their standard CPU sales. Mobiles are fine on desktop, and require less voltage to the core compared to the same clocked standar XP CPU. So in essence, better overclokers right off, possibility to set the FSB to 266/333 or 400 and the multiplier without restrictions. They are the best XP cpu's, but with no official support from AMD, OEM's or 3rd party manufacturers. The downside is, no HSF and the warranty, 30 days or less. I bought mine from NCIX.com and it died within 2 days from casual OC, and I shipped it back, got the new one, and have been using it on my girfriends PC for the last 6 months. I even installed Crystal CPU to define the wattage and multiplier etc... so uniffical Cool & Quiet functions. regards
