well... i yesterday installed PCmark 2001 after reformatting... i never put in my full name on anything that asks me to... i just dont. Now, somehow, at the end of my installation... it new my last name... i always put either only my first name... or jhdf as my last name. And so i know i never put in my last name. So... why did it know my last name?

Did you "tell" Windows your full name?

That's the most likely option - some programs being able to read the info provided to Windows and which appears when you right-click on the control panel.

Although you did say you never include your full name...

We Are Watching YOU! We Have been chatting to your friends in Texas, and they seem concerned about the amount of time your spending in your room, far too unhealthy for a 15 year old to spend that much time by himself! We know about the cling film over the keyboard & your Div X collection!

Mu ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a serious note, you have entered that info somewhere on your computer, no spookyness about it! I never place any of my personal details in windows, always use assumed names, even when beta testing for MS, they have an assumed name....which causes my housemates to go into fits of laughter, when ever mail arrives from MS...
I have my own NDA with MS they don't know who I am so therefore they can never accuse me of breaking there NDA!

This can also cause problems, Like documents printed from office eg CV Have the assumed names attached...Kinda of somewhat embarassing in your place of work!

Just always remember, who you are & where you are!

lol

no... i really havent. I never do. It got my name somehow... perhaps windows has a built in hidden feature that looks at your old files and gathers information from that. Next time i format... i will get a program that writes 0's. 23 TIMES!!! But either way... i am really pissed off since i know i didnt put in my name. Maybe my computer has a webcam i dont know about. But probably not since i built it myself.
