Any difference if you mount your hard drive vertcally, versus flat horizontally?

It doesn't make any serious difference, though it would be best to leave them running in the same position afterwards.

One would leave the HD cooler.....running veritcally will obviously be slightly cooler (heat rises).

Heh, I wish I could read the temp of my WD 800BB (it is horizontal), for some reason it doen't have the feature.

My primary drive, an IBM 120GXP, is vertical, and is 30 degrees; wish I could compare . . . .

Vampy, a lot of drives have temperature monitoring through the SMART interface. Get a temperature monitoring program that supports SMART --like SpeedFan-- and maybe that will work for you. In response to the question, though -- no, it doesn't matter. I've read that it used to be you had to mount your HDDs in the same position as they were low-level formatted in (some head alignment thing) but that it doesn't matter any more.

The new version of MBM also has HD temp support - this I MUST try!
MBM has been watching over my CPU temp for a LONG time.

I just tried SmartFan, but still, my WD800BB temp doesn't show up.

One thing though, there's the HD0 temp (my IBM), and 3 other temps I know one is the CPU, and one is the case, but I have no idea what the other is (it's at 25-26 degrees.)

MBM didn't work for crap on my mobo

I've tried DTemp previously also, but it can't read the WD drive's temp either.

Oh well

MBM Sucks.

I found motherboard monitor sucks. It has never ever given me accurate readings and also only works half of the time. Stay away from it. AREA_51

Omg, now it won't even uninstall. "Could not open install.log file"
I hate retarded crap.

Bah, I went in and manually ran unwise.exe and it worked. For some reason the link in the Start Menu wouldn't.
Whatever, it's gone.
